Becoming a Family Mediator
Family mediation is a rewarding career. Embarking on a career in family mediation requires dedication and a commitment to ensure you continually meet the standards to maintaining the integrity of the profession.
Completing the ADR Group’s Family Mediator training programme is the first step in gaining status as an accredited Family Mediator. Newly trained mediators must then work towards FMC Accreditation (FMCA). FMC Accreditation is designed to be the standard qualification for family mediators in England and Wales.
Who should attend?
ADR Group’s Family Mediator training programme is ideal for those who wish to practice as Family Mediators or those who would like to acquire new or enhance existing skills and knowledge, which will complement their professional careers.
Delegates must comply with the following entry criteria:
- Must be educated to UK undergraduate level or hold an equivalent level of professional qualification or demonstrate work experience in a role that requires an equivalent level of thinking and application.
- Are either native English speakers or understand and use the language at a near-native level.
- Have the ability to work with conflicts and manage interpersonal relationships at a professional level.
All delegates are required to provide details of a referee who can comment on professional knowledge and competence as well as personal and professional suitability and attributes. Your referee must not be a relative and should be either a recent employee/ employer or someone with experience in family mediation. It is at ADR Group’s discretion to contact your referee. Upon submission of your application the ADR Group Family Mediation Committee will decide on whether you have been accepted on the course based on whether you fulfil the above criteria.
