Alan has currently conducted several mediations with a settlement rate in excess of 80%. Mediations undertaken have ranged in nature from boundary disputes, commercial contracts, energy, and eviction cases through to building and professional negligence disputes. Using his considerable experience of the construction industry, ancillary activities and commerce and contracts in general Alan has the ability to identify and understand the important issues in disputes in the following fields: general litigation, boundaries, construction, professional negligence, environmental, energy, commercial contracts, landlord and tenant and neighbours.
Alan has over 35 years extensive experience in the construction industry as a quantity surveyor and project manager and has worked for both consultants and contractors in the U.K. and overseas. Most of his current work involves acting as consultant Project Manager for companies such as GlaxoSmithKline, BMW, Samsung, B&Q, various universities, Tesco and various government departments.
He is an Associate Director and is his company’s leader for legal and technical services in the south-west region and he has considerable experience of acting as expert witness in cases involving building disputes, professional negligence and other property related matters.
He has the benefit of his quantity surveying training and experience as well as his project management experience over a wide range of differing projects. Alan is still a practising project manager and is involved in a variety of both small and large projects for both private, commercial and governmental clients. He then applies his knowledge to get disputing parties to recognise the strengths and weaknesses of their case and to take this into account in their deliberations, in order to reach settlement and closure of their dispute.
In addition Alan has successfully completed ADR’s Family Mediator course.
