Practice Overview

Mary Siddall is an employment lawyer with a passionate interest in employee relations and resolving workplace conflict.  She became an ADR accredited mediator in 2005.  Having practised as an employment law solicitor for over 20 years, Mary was appointed an employment tribunal judge in 2010.  She now runs her own consultancy, which offers mediation, early neutral evaluation, investigations and training.

Professional Background

Mary worked as a solicitor in private practice for many years, specialising in employment law and advising a wide variety of public sector, charitable, corporate and sporting clients and individuals.  She then spent five years working as a lawyer in-house within the higher education sector.  After being appointed an employment tribunal judge in 2010, Mary left legal practice to set up her own consultancy, ‘Workplace Solutions’ and she now focusses on working with employers and employees to resolve workplace issues.   As well as mediating employment disputes, Mary has acted as an independent appeals manager and has conducted a number of workplace investigations.

Mary set up the internal mediation service at the University of Southampton in 2008 and administered the scheme for four years. In 2012 she was named ‘Mediation Co-ordinator of the Year’ at the National Mediation Awards.  Mary is registered as an individual mediator with the Civil Mediation Council. She is a member of an Employment Lawyers Association Working Group looking at arbitration and ADR in the employment context.
