Reason 1: “What does industry want from mediation?” key-note address by Robert Webb General Counsel at Rolls Royce plc. Reviewing progress on the project for an ADR pledge for business. 

 

Reason 2: “What is coming next from Europe?” a discussion led by Prof. Christopher Hodges of Oxford University and featuring Jacqueline Minor, Director of Consumer Affairs at the European Commission and Diana Wallis MEP.

 

Reason 3: “What is the government proposing for ADR in the County Courts?” The Ministry of Justice proposal following the consultation will be published imminently. We work out with the help of MOJ spokesmen, specialist small claims mediators and other stakeholders what they mean for us. Will we all need to be trained in telephone mediation?

 

Reason 4: “What do experienced users of mediation expect from us? “ Katie Bradford of Linklaters presents the latest findings of the newly-formed Commercial Mediation Group.

 

Reason 5: “Are we all doing the same thing in different settings or are we doing completely different things?” Karen Irwin of Mediators’ Institute of Ireland and Lawrence Kershen of the Restorative Justice Council ask whether practices within family, civil, workplace and community mediation have a common core. Or are they all genuinely unique disciplines? How far could a common training serve all of the present silos?

Thereafter tickets will be £150 to members and £200 to non-members.
