About Workplace Mediation
The gibbons report on Workplace Dispute Resolution in the UK concluded that the 2004 Dispute Resolution Regulations had failed and should be repealed. The report recommended that future measures should be simpler, more cost-effective and more flexible; and in particular, that the use of mediation should be increased. The new Employment Act repeals the 2004 procedures and introduces a Code of Practice which encourages the early resolution of workplace disagreements through flexible and simple procedures. Workplace Mediation is the ideal method of dealing with workplace disputes in accordance with the new legislation.
Who Should Become a Workplace Mediator?
The Workplace Mediator Training Programme is essential for any person wishing to practice as a workplace mediator in small, medium and large organisations in both the private and public sectors.
These include
- HR directors and senior HR personnel
- Managing Directors and line managers
- Supply chain managers, complaints handlers and customer service representatives
- Staff advisors and counsellors
- Employment consultants
- Union representatives and policy advisors
- In-house legal directors and advisors
- Members of school, college or university senior management or counselling teams
- Senior partners in any medium to large firm e.g accountants, architects, solicitors, doctors, healthcare and other professionals
Course Prerequisites
In order to fully engage in the role play aspects of the course particpants require a strong command of the English language. If you have any concerns in this regard, please call us to disuss further prior to the course.
There are no other particular course pre-requisites other than willingness to engage in shared learning through role pays and interactive exercises. Knowledge of Human Resources and Employment Law is helpful but not essential.
