The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the leading worldwide property professional body, signed up as the first major partner of ADR Group’s new dedicated workplace mediation training services.

The Employment Act 2008 became law on the 6th April 2009. In anticipation of this change in UK legislation, ADR Group developed a range of specialist workplace dispute resolution tools and training to address the challenge and opportunities arising from general workplace relationship management issues. In 2008 RICS decided to take the proactive step of providing its members with bespoke workplace mediation training, helping them plan and adjust to the proposed changes in employment legislation.

The Employment Act 2008 repeals certain aspects of the old statutory dispute resolution procedures and produces a new grievance, disciplinary and dismissal framework for the resolution of disputes in the workplace.

The arrangement with the ADR Group enables RICS to build on its dispute resolution services to encompass workplace mediation training, for the benefit of RICS member firms.  A range of training will be available to RICS members and their employees, from basic workplace dispute resolution awareness to more advanced skills training, all serving the aim of reducing the costs of conflict to RICS firms.
