Practice Overview
Simon is a practising barrister with Chambers in London and Chichester. He has over 40 years’ experience in litigation and has been accredited as a mediator by the ADR Group for ten years. Simon has a wealth of experience in contentious matters, and specialises in property litigation.
Simon has a good understanding of the parties’ emotions when disputes have arisen, and is known for his empathy, patience and stamina which enables a high success rate to be achieved. He believes in “thinking out of the box” in order to achieve constructive solutions to the parties’ overall needs, often above and beyond the narrow issues raised in the litigation itself.
Simon has undertaken dozens of mediations and has travelled all over the country to undertake them.
Professional Background
As well as being in practice as a barrister, Simon is also a fee paid (part time) Judge of the First- Tier Tribunal, both in respect of Land Registration disputes (since 2004) and Residential Property (since 2010). Since 2011, he has mediated extensively as a judicial mediator in these jurisdictions.
Simon is appointed to the RICS Panel of Boundary Dispute Mediators. He is a member of the Property Bar Association, the Chancery Bar Association and the Professional Negligence Bar Association.
Simon contributes the titles “Land Registration” and “Trespass to Land” in Atkin’s Court Forms and is the co-author of LexisNexis “A Practical Guide to Land Registration Proceedings”.
